Hello and welcome to an exciting year at Lineville Intermediate School. I am excited to have the opportunity to teach your child and to form a partnership with you during this school year.
The start of this school year marks my 16th year of teaching. These years have quickly flown by since I first started.
I grew up in a family in which education was highly regarded. My parents are both retired teachers and my sister also currently teaches in the Howard-Suamico School District. My mom recently retired as a teacher of the deaf and hard of hearing and my dad taught at the college level for many years. I received my undergraduate degree in May 1999 from University of Wisconsin-Whitewater in Special Education, specializing in learning disabilities K-9. After college I was hired to teach in the Little Chute School District as a 6th grade teacher for student with learning and emotional disabilities. I taught at Little Chute Middle School until 2001 and then was fortunate to be hired in the Howard-Suamico School District.
I taught 6 years at Forest Glen Elementary as a K-4 Special Education Teacher. During this time, I discovered my passion for teaching reading and building up new readers. I completed my master's degree in reading through Cardinal Stritch University and earned my reading teacher and Reading Specialist licenses in 2004.
Starting the fall of 2007, I changed my job status and location through a job share opportunity. I switched from full-time teaching at Forest Glen to a part-time job share with another teacher at Lineville Intermediate. My first son was born in 2006 and I worked full time for a year after he was born. The job share was a once in lifetime opportunity to have the best of both worlds, more time with my family, and quality teaching time. Lineville has been a great place for me to work and I am excited to continue.
My husband is a middle school teacher in the Green Bay School District. Together we have three boys, Benjamin (8), Samuel (4), and Ethan (4). Ben will be a third grader at Westwood Elementary and my twins will be starting 4K this year. Unbelievable for this mom!
This will be my first year with the Epic House and I am returning to full time teaching status. I am thrilled to be teaching with Lyzette Maroszek and Ashley Santelli. I think we will make an EPIC team! This year I will team teach language arts with Miss Santelli. Teaming is the best opportunity for both students with and without disabilities with increased access to teachers and instant differentiation for all students. I will also teach a 5th grade math class and reading intervention class as well as provide reteaching opportunities for math and content areas. Please contact me with any questions you might have. I look forward to a fantastic year!
