Hello! My name is Ashley Santelli, and this is my first year at Lineville Intermediate School. I am proud, honored and excited to be apart of the EPIC House! Being a graduate of the 2009 Bay Port High School class, I am thrilled to be returning to the Howard-Suamico School District! I would like to take this time to introduce myself to you.
Since I was a little girl, I always knew I wanted to become a teacher. With my cousins, friends, and neighbors, we would always play, “School”, where I would rush to volunteer to be the teacher. As I entered school, I enjoyed every minute of it! Not only did I fall in love with learning new things, but also the relationships and friendships that would be created each year with new teachers and friends. At the age of eight I was blessed with a younger brother, Doug, and I couldn’t have been more excited to finally have a sibling! Since my brother was younger, he struggled with school and I made it my mission to show him how school can be a great place and to fall in love with learning. Once I was in high school and had a better understanding of who I was and what I wanted in life, I realized the “AH-HA” moments my brother was experiencing were extremely rewarding. This thought solidified my dream to become a teacher and pursued the journey!
After my high school graduation, I furthered my academic career at Silver Lake College in Manitowoc, Wisconsin with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and Mathematics. During my college career, I took part in many volunteer opportunities that involved children of all ages. I knew that I was on the right path and it was my destiny to become an educator!
While I was in college, I met my fiancé, Matthew Tennie. He was actually the brother of my college roommate! From the moment we met, we had an instant connection. We have been dating for three and a half years, and will be getting married on October 11, 2014! We currently have one dog, Oscar. He is a Miniature Dachshund. Matthew and I love dogs, and would like to get another one. Oscar is probably one of the luckiest dogs! We treat him as if he were our baby, since we do not have any children yet.
Even though this is my first year teaching, I am overjoyed to be apart of the EPIC House and to be working with LyzetteMaroszek and Laura Devine, who are some EPICLY amazing teachers! This year I will be teaching Language Arts and Science. You can expect frequent newsletters updating you about the “happenings” in our classroom. If you have any questions, or concerns please feel free to contact me. I am certain this will be an epic year in the Epic House!J
