iPad Use at Home
The school iPads are for educational purposes so students will not be able to add their own apps to the device. Students will be using the devices at home to complete school work. To see your student’s assignments, you may ask your student to show you their Schoology account. On a normal day, students should have no more than an hour of homework. After their homework is completed, the device should be charged overnight.
Be aware that the iPads have internet access and students will still be able to access social media sites. Our internet at school is filtered to restrict access to these and other harmful sites. However, at home it is up to you as the parent to be sure internet restrictions are in place or to monitor iPad use at home. It is ok to restrict any use at home not directly related to school work.
Apps
Please do not allow students to download apps from your personal iTunes account. Some apps, such as Facebook, Kik and Snapchat, are restricted and will cause the iPad to lose functionality until deleted.
Insurance Coverage
A reminder that the insurance policy covers the iPad only for accidental damage. To be covered by insurance, the iPad must be in the case provided by the school. Damage to the case, power block or cord are not covered. Please report any damage or problems with the iPad to your student’s teacher.
Failure to follow these recommendations could result in the child’s family having to pay a replacement cost for a damaged or defaced iPad.
